The travel bag is built around a weekend rather than a walk. The lower layer takes collapsible food containers and keeps dry food away from everything else; the upper takes bowls, leads, a folded mat and the medicine you would rather not forget. It carries by handle or shoulder strap and slides over a suitcase handle, and the mat unrolls to feed on so a strange kitchen floor is not part of the arrangement.

The seat cover does the other half of the job: it goes down before the dog does, clips to both headrests and hangs as a hammock so nothing ends up in the footwell. It is quilted, waterproof on the underside and rinses with a hose. The bird carrier is the odd piece here and belongs to a much smaller group of people: a ventilated backpack with a perch, sized for a cockatiel rather than a parrot the size of a cat.
